Forums for Groups and Ratings

Manage small group discussion in a forum and explore the how and why of rating posts.

Facilitator: Peter Evans

By the end of the session, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • explain how to set up forums and scales to allow students to rate forum posts
  • select, create and use a discussion forum that meets the particular needs of their student group(s)

During the session:

  • Why you might want students to rate forum posts
  • Setting up the scales and forums
  • How it works from a teacher/student view
  • Using forums with groups and groupings

Advanced content (if time allows):

  • Importance of netiquette and communicating expectations to students (eBook in Engineering Portal and Staff Support Site for referencing to students)

BIO:


Dr Peter Evans is visiting the ANU from USQ and is working with the Central Wattle team. Peter has many years of experience supporting staff and students with Moodle and will run these sessions for CECS with assistance from Lauren Kane and Malcolm Pettigrove.
