ABSTRACT:
The room temperature formability of a fibre metal laminate based on aluminium and a self-reinforcing polypropylene composite is investigated. Blanks of varying geometry are stretched over a hemispherical punch in a custom stamp press to develop a forming limit diagram over the full range of strain ratios. A real-time three-dimensional photogrammetric measuring system is used to acquire the evolution of surface strain and the strain at failure.
