ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this half-day workshop is to inspire the audience to become better at writing research papers. The target audience is mainly PhD and postgraduate by research students in engineering, but final undergraduate students who are about to write their honours thesis or those who are considering continuing onto postgraduate studies are also welcome to attend. The workshop may be useful for supervisors for advising current and future students on writing matters.
The workshop draws upon the speaker's own writing experience during PhD candidature and the following research career. It aims to identify common and recurring issues with writing papers and to propose ways to address them. By attending this workshop, it is expected that the audience can enhance their writing, reading, and revising skills and present their research in the best possible form at top international levels. The speakers will use familiar examples from real life to make some important points about writing.
The style of the workshop is rather informal and the audience can interact and ask questions along the way.
