BIO:
Michelle is an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at Colorado State University (CSU). She earned her Ph.D. at the University of California, San Diego in 2003, was an Enrico Fermi Postdoctoral Scholar at Argonne National Laboratory and a Research Associate at the University of Chicago for two years, and started as an assistant professor at CSU in 2005. Dr. Strout's main research area is high performance computing and her research interests include compilers and run-time systems, scientific computing, and software engineering. At CSU, she has been on the graduate admissions committee for a number of years and recently was chair of that committee. Additionally, Dr. Strout navigated the U.S. Ph.D. job market in 2003 and 2005 performing a total of sixteen 1-2 day interviews. Michelle lives with her husband and two boys ages 9 and 14 (aka hobbies) in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado typically, but from July 2013 through May 2014 she is doing sabbatical at ANU in the just as lovely Canberra.
