BIO:
Dr Alberto Troccoli is the head of the Weather and Energy Research Unit CSIRO. He has more than 15 years of experience in several aspects of meteorology and climate, including data assimilation, analysis of observations, weather and seasonal forecasts, and decadal climate projections. He has held research positions at NASA, the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) the University of Reading. He has published widely and has successfully managed several projects, including components of very large EU projects. He is the chief editor and an author of three books: aSeasonal Climate: Forecasting and Managing Riska (Springer, 2008), aManagement of Weather and Climate Risk in the Energy Industrya (Springer, 2010), aWeather Matters for Energya (Springer, due out in 2014). He has convened the successful International Conference Energy & Meteorology (ICEM) held in Australia in 2011 and ICEM-2 in France in 2013. He holds a PhD in physical oceanography and climate from the University of Edinburgh (UK).
